Avi Mallin joins DSSP with many years of experience as a physician assistant. Avi earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona. He went to work in the medical device industry before realizing he wanted to be on the other side of the table and become a clinician. He then earned his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from AT Still University. He spent the first 11 years of his career practicing his dream of emergency medicine, but ultimately found his calling when he shifted his career to the physical medicine and rehabilitation arena in 2020.
Avi found great satisfaction in helping those people having one of their worst days of their lives in the emergency department, but his enthusiasm now lies in helping people to live their best lives despite whatever physical limitations of acute and chronic pain have done to change their plans. He enjoys getting to know his patients, what their goals and limitations are, and formulating customized treatment plans to help them restore function and quality of life.
Avi is a proud Arizona native and an avid fan of our local sports teams. He stays fit through hiking, yoga/meditation, golf, and HIIT classes. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, photography, spending time with friends and family, and exploring our neighboring states on road trips with his two dogs, Lenny and Laverne.
