Dr. Overdorf’s Approach to Patient-Centered, Non-Surgical Care
With his advanced fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine, Dr. Overdorf specializes in delivering non-surgical solutions for spine and musculoskeletal conditions. His approach focuses on precision, safety, and patient comfort, using minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat pain at its source.
Dr. Overdorf is exceptionally skilled in techniques that promote faster recovery and reduce the need for surgery, including targeted spinal injections and regenerative therapies. His care philosophy is rooted in reducing pain, restoring function, and improving quality of life, working closely with each patient to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and goals.
Focusing on non-surgical solutions, Dr. Overdorf leverages advanced, evidence-based techniques to alleviate pain and restore function. Some of these specialized techniques include:
- Intracept or Basivertebral Nerve Ablation: This procedure targets and disables nerves in the vertebrae responsible for chronic lower back pain, reducing discomfort and improving mobility.
- MILD (Minimally-Invasive Lumbar Decompression): This removes small pieces of bone and ligament through a tiny incision to relieve pressure on spinal nerves, easing back and leg pain caused by lumbar spinal stenosis.
- Peripheral Nerve Stimulator Implants: These small devices are placed near specific nerves outside the spinal cord to block pain signals. They treat chronic pain in areas like the arms, legs, or joints when other treatments haven’t worked.
- Peripheral Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation: This treats various underlying conditions that cause chronic joint and peripheral nerve pain by delivering radiofrequency energy via a small electrode placed next to the affected nerve
- Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) Fusion: This fusion technique stabilizes the sacroiliac joint using small implants, which helps reduce chronic lower back and pelvic pain.
- Spinal Cord Stimulator Implants: Spinal cord stimulator implants deliver mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord to interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain, helping to relieve chronic back or leg pain.
- VIA Disc: This minimally invasive, biologic therapy helps restore disc function and slow disease progression without significant downtime.
Whether addressing chronic pain, reduced mobility, or loss of function, Dr. Overdorf strives to help his patients regain control of their lives.
